If you have never burned a soy wax candle you don’t know what you are missing. On the other hand if you have burned a paraffin wax candle in your home, please read on.  The majority of mass produced candles are made of paraffin wax which has a petrolium base.  The petrolium in paraffin wax releases black smoke (soot) which is toxic. If you have noticed the black smoke that gathers around the top of the glass when burning a paraffin wax candle that's what you're missing when burning soy wax candles. That black smoke is mostly caused by the petroleum in paraffin wax.

Soy wax does not contain petroleum which allows it to burn clean with minimal black smoke which is not toxic.  Although anything you burn will release minimal smoke, soy wax is the healthier alternative.
